Shellye V. McDonald

Shellye V. McDonald is a native of Oxford, Mississippi. She graduated with honors from the University of Mississippi, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982 and juris doctor in 1985.  Following graduation from law school, she moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast where she has engaged primarily in a defense practice, working in the areas of health insurance defense, medical malpractice, legal malpractice and personal injury defense.

In 1999, Shellye went to work in house for the area’s largest casino company, where she later served as the corporate Regional Claims Director for multiple properties.  In 2003, Shellye returned to private practice, working primarily in the areas of general insurance defense and medical malpractice. She has successfully defended bad faith insurance claims, medical malpractice and personal injury cases, breach of contract, premises liability and fraud.

Shellye holds the distinction of the AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating for the highest level of professional excellence for both ethical standards and legal abilities.  She is admitted to practice in all State and Federal Courts in Mississippi as well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the Harrison County Bar Association, the Mississippi Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association.
